Introduction of Sudetenland
Historic region originally comprising the mountainousborderland s on the N of Bohemia and Silesia,which had generally been inhabited by Germanspeakingpeoples. During the Sudentenland Crisis of1938-39, the area was widened to include the similarborderland s of Moravia as well. After the MunichAgreement of 1938 between Germany and GreatBritain, France, and Italy, these areas were seizedby the Nazi German government in 1939 and absorbed into the German Reich, in effect partitioningCzechoslovakia.
