Introduction of San-Juan-Capistrano
Town in S California, 20 mi SE of Santa Ana.Father Junipero Serra named the mission he foundedhere in 1776 after the Franciscan missionary and preacher St. John of Capistrano (1386-1456), fromwhom the town also took its name. It is famous forthe swallows that come to the mission church ruins inthe spring and leave on October 23, the anniversaryof the saint's death.
