Introduction of Sag-Harbor
Village in Suffolk County, SE New York State, at theE end of Long Island , midway on the South Fork,on Gardiner's Bay, 25 mi W of Montauk. It wassettled between 1720 and 1730. An active whalingcenter in the 19th century, it is a summer resort and fishing and yachting center today. Long Island 's firstnewspaper, the Long Island Herald, was publishedhere in 1791. There is a whaling museum.
