Introduction of Peschiera-Del-Garda
Town in Verona province, Veneto region, on anisland at the mouth of the Mincio River, on LakeGarda, 14 mi W of Verona, NE Italy. A fortresstown, now no longer of military value, it played animportant part as a frontier town, especially duringthe Napoleonic Wars. It became one of the Quadrilateralcities, together with Verona, Legnano, and Mantua, which formed the center of Austrian rule inItaly. The town was taken by the forces of Piedmontin 1848.
